Number one - Backbeat Records has decided to join forces with us and move into the shop, so we're doing a bit of refurbishment. Please excuse the mess while we kit out the shop for Gary's arrival. We're looking forward to him joining us, it'll be good for us and for the Belfast music scene in general, we think.
And number two, the latest issue of The Stool Pigeon has arrived. It's a free music paper, with 88 pages this time. Features on Chrome Hoof, Mike Patton, Holy Fuck, The Melvins, Alan Moore, Roky Erickson and loads more, including the music crossword, of course!
And on the stock front, lots of promo albums and singles have arrived in - probably about a hundred in total, so something might take your fancy. Also the BLAKROC album is in on CD. In case you don't know, it's a collaboration between The Black Keys and various people from the hip hop world, such as Raekwon, Mos Def, RZA, Q-Tip, and somewhat amazingly (seeing as he's dead) Ol' Dirty Bastard. It really is a cracking album, great live instrumentation from Dan Auerbach and Pat Carney and great stuff from the other artists. Well worth seven of your pounds. Also new in is Seasick Steve, The Low Anthem and The Jim Jones Revue.
More stuff should be in by the weekend - including the brilliant album from Kevin Martin's latest alias, King Midas Sound.
